Incident Summary:Allegation that LMSC recruited players from Mavericks. Several Mavericks players attended an LMSC winter camp. After the conclusion of the camp, the players registered with Mavericks requested their release from Mavericks to move to LMSC.
Comments:It is legal for clubs to hold camps and clinics open to players regardless of the club the attendees are registered with. Clubs do not need to obtain permission for players to attend these camps and clinics.
However, it is a problem when a player attends one of these camps or clinics and then moves to the club holding the camp or clinic outside of the tryout window.
In this situation, the players attended a Lamorinda camp or clinic (a permissible act), but then requested a release from their club to move to Lamorinda (the club that hosted the camp) shortly after attending the camp. That Lamorinda sent the players follow up communications that indicated the camp or clinic was used as a part of the player evaluation process indicates further that this camp or clinic was used for recruiting in addition to player development.
The PAD Committee recommends to the Executive Board of NorCal Premier Soccer League that Lamorinda be placed on probation for 12 months and fined $250 per pla
