Incident Summary:Allegation that Modesto Ajax recruited a player from Ceres. A Ceres registered player was permitted to train with a Modesto Ajax team without permission from Ceres. A PAD Incident Report was filed concerning that, and the PAD Committee in reliance on the statement from Modesto Ajax that the coach was not interested in the player and that the player was allowed to train with the Ajax team while registered with Ceres by mistake, suspended the Ajax coach for 2 games. Subsequently, the player was told by Ajax to obtain his release from Ceres, the player received his release and then registered to play with the Ajax team. Ceres, then filed the present Incident Report.
Comments:The PAD Committee finds that despite Ajax's initial statement that they were not interested in this player, they subsequently advised the player and his family to obtain their release and then registered the player for the team the player impermissibly trained with. In cases where a player impermissibly trains with a team, then seeks his release immediately to register with the team he trained with, the PAD Committee has, in the past suspended the coach who permitted the player to train then registered for 6 games. We see no factual difference from that situation here, and claims that the coach had the team manager communicate with the player's family do not shield the coach from responsibility - to the contrary, coaches are responsible for the acts they delegate to their managers. The PAD Committee suspends Coach DeHart 4 games for recruiting - when combined with the 2 games he was previously suspended, this follows the PAD precedent of imposing 6 game suspensions in these situations.
