Comments: | June 20, 2024 PAD Committee Ruling:
ABSC has used Kennedy High School for games since at least 2012. This historical use means there is no violation of the NorCal rules.
September 26, 2024 update:
Richmond United appealed the PAD Committee's decision. NorCal's Executive Committee has found that Albany-Berkeley SC is currently in violation of Section 1.1 of the NorCal Handbook, in regards to ABSC operating in Richmond, and teams from non-NorCal Member Clubs (Richmond Quakes and Atchison Village FC) participating in NorCal competitions as part of ABSC.
Due to the current season having already started, and a desire to balance a fair decision with giving the student-athletes in these teams the opportunity to complete their season, the NorCal Executive Committee has made the following decision on a pathway forward.
● The Richmond-based teams in ABSC (Richmond Quakes & Atchison Village FC) are permitted to continue playing in NorCal competitions as part of ABSC until the end of 24/25 season
● ABSC’s use of Richmond fields in the 24/25 season is limited to Richmond Quakes & Atchison Village FC teams only
● ABSC will not be approved to operate any practices or games in Richmond from the 25/26 season onwards
● If Richmond Quakes & Atchison Village FC teams wish to participate in NorCal competitions from 25/26 season onwards, they would have 3 options: ○ Apply to become independent NorCal Member Clubs via the New Club Application (which may affiliate with ABSC) ○ Become fully integrated as part of ABSC (based in Albany-Berkeley), and in compliance with Section 1.1 of the NorCal Handbook ○ Join an existing NorCal Member Club operating in Richmond |
